¿Question #1086?
Mozbink: Who was the best and most effective villain, Darth Vador or Sauron?
Svengaard: Sauron could actually plan a siege without causing a clusterf**k amongst his own troops (as Darth couldn't have bungled Hoth any more if he tried), but Sauron was stupid enough to pour the bulk of his power into a ring. So I'd say they're both pretty ineffective over all.
MustardDragon: Darth Vader
Hendal: Bush Jr.
slate43: Neither, Professor Fate, although he was not very effective, he was/is the best.
Woelf: Darth Vader got beat by a whiny farm boy, while Sauron got beat by a Hobbit. Let's call that one a draw.
MegaDoomer: Vader, always Vader.
Varduk: Sauron. He never went good
Blott: Darth Vader was more effective because he actually had a physical presence.
Spirit of 70: Sauron.
Felimid: Neither. You want a really nasty pair of villains, you can pick either Morgoth or Ungoliant.
kowgawd: Sauron. But, they both lost so neither was effective...
ricardofo: Darth Vader. Ate least he has a certain amount of honour. Sauron looks to me as a coward.
sarastar: Sauron- he's mean to puppies!
Evonine: Probably Sauron - he was never turned back to the good side of things. A better comparison would probably be the Emporer or Sauron.
vandemonium: Are you kidding me? Darth Vador.
Sarsi: Darth Vader
BobbyChicken: Sauron, because he didn't turn back to the good side.
DHEK: Sauron was a more powerful and effective villain I think.
aleo09: most effective sauron, b/c he didn't come back to the good side.
blindspot: Sauron
Chris__M: Sauron
zatchmo: Vader. Sauron never got into the thick of thing, he was just a big, floating eye.
Leo-T: What's the difference? They both lost!
Dean Conrad: Who is the worst speller: Mozbink or Ernie?
MaksimSmelchak: Tough call. I'd have to vote for Sauron. He was far more destructive (destroyed other "deities" and other planes of existence as opposed to a few worlds over one galaxy) and had a longer running career (centuries if not millenia as opposed to a few dozen years) than Darth Vader.
Dorque: Hmm... Vader slaughtered hundreds and oppressed billions, Sauron slaughtered millions but didn't manage to oppress anybody. So the answer is this is an f'd up question.
Nap16: Darth Vadar
XenoMaster: Vader, Sauron had no personality
hakko504: Learn to spell, please.
miyazakigrognard: Vador[sic] is too cliché for words. Sauron was always a poor second to his boss, Morgoth.
jasta6: Darth Vador........................................................................
HappiestWookie: Darth Vader... I always thought there was a grin and teary cow eyes under the mask
ralpheous: Well, neither one succeeded... but Vader (real Vader, not whiny, annoying Hayden Christiansen) was way more intimidating. Who's affraid of a disembodied eye who's servants can't even find the ring when they're 5 feet away from it?
WatchmanX2000: Darth Vader
Freejack: Darth Vader
Lemur: Sauron
TheDS: Vader, hands down. 100-0. Sauron was about as scary and in your face as a sheet of paper. Vader was out there, making things happen, and he had personal demons turning him from being just an evil person to being someone with a tragic past who could've turned out good under different circumstances.
brainrob: Neither were effective - they were both defeated
scriptorum: They're both failures, but Darth Vader has probably caused more misery over many worlds than Sauron with his one.
mrspank: Darth Vader.
bigbadsteve: Vader, an evil eye can only look around for so long
Loquutus: Vader
talanthan: Darth Vader, with an e.
ZombyDawg: Sauron. Darth Vader is a pussy.
Bahamut-X: Sauron
xlorp: Although both outlived their masters, Sauron had a much longer run.
consolewa: I think the question you should ask yourself is, "How is it possible to misspell Darth Vader? Especially on a website with the word 'geek' in its URL?"
Tushratta: Darth
Numskull: Sauron, because he didn't spend one whole movie as a kid who couldn't act and one other whole movie as a whiny teenage putz.
DonO: Snidley Whiplash
obob: neither, by a long shot
Legend Dan: Vader. Darth VadEr.
Ludocrazy: Sauron
Great Dane: They were both losers!
CherryPie: Sauron.
edosan: They were both pretty useless, weren't they?
Lord_Prussian: Darth Vader
lambda: In the movies, Darth Vader. In the books, Sauron.
ThatFalafelGirl: Sauron. Darth Vader was actually good, deep, deep, deep, deep, deep ,deep down
bluebehir: It could have been Sauron
kimapesan: They are heros, what are you talking about?
Ivan: Darth Vader because you can't see Sauron so he isn't scary.
tragicpoet: Sauron
melissa: Sauron
skrutsch: In what context? Movie, book...
erli: Dubya
2amp: Darth Vader
snoozefest: darth
WasQ: Darth Vador...but I am confused about de Vador
batman: Darth Vader
Reloaded: Vador... I was afraid...
Tim Synge: None of the above.
jimchris: Sauron, no contest. Even though they both were defeated by something they could not admit to themselves, Sauron was by far older, more malicious and more into the dark side. In many ways, he WAS the dark side.
pkreynolds: Darth Vader.
thoia: VadEr, but anyway. Sauron seemed to be the #1 in control whereas Vader...he was just under the command of the Emperor. Makes him a less effective villian in the sense of the story lines. However if you are asking about who was more effective on the screen, well Vader at least had a real physical presence now didn't he?
ginn5j: Sauron
Malacoda: In the books: Sauron. In the movies: Vador. Seriously, Jackson reduced Sauron to a scary lighthouse.
solove: Darth Vader
m_r_tyler: Vador? Vadar? Vader? Surely the most effective villain deserves to have his name spelled correctly. :)
shawn_low: It's Vadar you moron.
puffinge: Darth
gnomehome: Who's Darth Vador ?
isolated: Darth Vader. His side only lost because he turned traitor. Both times.
Prestonisnormal: Darth
AlorielLelyn: Sauron, hands down.
Salt-Man Z: Darth VadEr. He scared the pants off of everyone around him. Sauron didn't do a whole lot.
Karlsen: Neither was particularly effective in the long run :-)
kracken: Sauron
Johan: Darth, apart from the going soft bit at the end
manowarplayer: I can't believe you mispelled Vader.
kennyb: neither
Ryno8: Sauron... to my knowledge he wasn't a whiney pre-pubescent boob
shumyum: Best: Vader; most effective: Sauron
GuyHill: Vader
Blackwind: Sauron is ten times scarier than Darth Vader.
Cardinal Fang: Darth Vador
Bluenose: Sauron, make a good trout in a certain Knizia game as well...
onky: Sauron
chaddyboy_2000: I cannot process this question.
DangerMouse: Hmmm, let's see what Darth comes up with in the next Star Wars movie.
djlg: Neither of them, but if you want me to choose only between them, Sauron.
P.O.G.G.: Sauron
ynnen: Darth Vader
djflippy: Darth Vador (in the original films) beats a giant eyeball any day. Sorry.
geberus: Sauron, vader was redeemed
skelebone: Sauron... so much further reaching effects.
BobDodgerBlue: Darth Vader is an individual, Sauron more a principle: not easy to compare
ValJor: I don't like any LotR stuff so I have to go with Vader
louiseh: Sauron, of course. Come on, what sort of question is that?
CortexBomb: Unfair question, Darth Vader is now humanised, and a lot of Sauron was lost in the film. I nod Sauron mainly because he is such a presence in the books
darthcliff: Darth Vader
jttm: Vader.
CDRodeffer: Between those two, probably Sauron.
