diehard4life: Yes, there are many games which do not interest the women in our group due to subject matter (Nuclear War, Killer Bunnies, and Shogun type games), and they would not be interested in gaming for twelve straight hours. Mostly, they aren't as competitive, or at least not in the same way or for the same reasons.

deacondavid: I think there are cultural and environmental factors. My mother loves games, I think as a result of playing them as a child/young adult. My wife played very few, and does not enjoy them very often today.

bluebehir: Yes. Just as percentage wise, more men are high calibre mathematicians, so too are men more logical in game analysis. Even compared to women who enjoy gaming. There will always be dumb male gamers, and there will occasionally be an outstanding female gamer, (I have met one, who is married to a friend. She wins most games she plays!) but overall, it is just not part of the female make-up.

AlorielLelyn: Cultural issue IMO. I enjoy wargames and seriously complex games as much as most male gamers. However, I also enjoy Eurogames. On the otherhand, many of my female friends dislike wargames or complex games, and many of my male friends are not fond of Eurogames.

louiseh: You have to bear in mind that most people, male or female, aren'tinterested in gaming. We are all at one end of a continuum. The fact that there are more men than women at that end of the continuum might well have a genetic as well as cultural cause but it's not very important; what is important is that there are both men and women gamers regardless of the proportion of each at any one time.
