¿Question #1222?
[Deleted user]: [deleted question]
L0sther0: Yes, Yes they should
ScottyB42: yes
TheGreatGonzo: Oh yeah !
beehive23: New members should be subjected to indentured servitude until they have pleased us. Oh, and they should get a muffin basket.
Phil Fleischmann: And screw those of us who are neither "new" nor "old"? >:-(
crankin666: No
cgund: oh maybe a little.
Polgara: gimme da money :)
Ahiksking: Yes, but maybe sing for their supper first.
Frubgarde: Suits me!
derekjinx: Yes
Blott: It would be nice for newbies to have some geek gold to get started.
jpat: I think any kind of "reform" to the GG system is going to torque oldtimers who didn't benefit off, but I'd personally be in favor of some scaling back on prices of things. I think the relative scarcity of GG combined with the explosion of things to buy with it has encouraged some bad effects, such as dilution of the image galleries and the like.
Apparatus: Yes
LilRed: Yes.
foxxdye: Yeah, and then we should all hold hands and sing sea shanties.
Keonyn: Yes, because I'm new and bias
DHEK: Nope. That would lead to abuse with some people making up multiple new users to amass GeekGold.
edoug: as a newer member: yes.
Kalidor: Sure. Say, 10 gg?
Leo-T: sure
rootbeer: No. But do you know what bugs me? That I wasn't registered when that happened. I'd already been using the Geek for about a year at that point, and I was thinking, "I should get an account one of these days." And then FLAMMO, everyone got GeekGold, and it was just too late for me. So how about I change that 'no' to a conditional 'yes.' Yes, on the condition that your username starts with R and rhymes with mootbeer.
schmidt_a: Yes.
Geosmores: no
htp1: Yes, says the new guy
PsyJam: no, I'm only 4 gg away from getting my avatar, and it's taken me almost 2 years. That idea makes me sad, and if newbies get some GG, then I want some too.. at least enough to get the damn avatar!
niels: That would be equivalent to dropping the price of an avatar. And it would be misused by people making multiple accounts and then dumping all the GG into one. So the short answer is "No"
chockle: Why should we priveledged few help the poor masses?
gamegrl2: No, what is 10 measly coins worth?
cad614: No - but the old members should donate to the new members they deem worthy.
Russ G.: OK by me, but it isn't necessary to me.
dmomo: Only if it's retroactive, so all us late comers aren't left out!
JonBen: Yes, also there should be a FAQ somewhere ezplaining GG
Avatar_69: Sounds good to me.
WatchmanX2000: What?!? You mean you'd give up your elite status as a freak to let other freaks join the line you're standing in Josh?
jasta6: Sounds good to me.................................................
lauramath: Yes :) I'm new:) and I need an avator ;)
brainrob: No (and I'm sure this question has been asked before)
Jose: Sure. How about the not so new ones too! (Bday gold!)
gironha: No, but I think GOOD session reports should be worth more than 1.
Colors: A few points along with a Message telling them what it is for would be nice. They would be able to use it to tip others, and it would start them on their way to gathering more Geek gold.
confuse_a_cat: And risk GG inflation? Or stagflation?
bigbadsteve: i'm new...show me the money!!
Loquutus: Were they? I definitely want some free stuff now.
MochaKimono: Sure.
cloudstalkerian: no, that gold was to recognize the efforts of old members
javelin98: Nah. Make us earn it. That which doesn't kill us makes us geekier.
Kyleroconnor: sounds like a great idea
POvidiusNaso: No, but their first submission should be greeted with some bonus gold.
wiz8mom: What about the in-between members? Huh? Huh?
Thedalek: Yes.
dakarp: That might be open to abuse--people could start dummy accounts to siphon out the gg.
KingMob: I'd like that.
CharlieWonka: Yes
sourwyrm: yah
kaiser: Why not?
JimPAX: Why are all of you so hung up on fake money?
msbtch2u: NO WAY! Another of my incarnations was around when gg started, and got NOTHING!
familygaming: Nope. I sumbitted hundreds of articles and never got any gold for my old stuff. I say let them earn it.
darthcliff: 10 GG was enough for me, dag nabbit!
Musti: That might be a good idea.
heli: nah
DangerMouse: How badly was the free gold being abused? Lots of dummy accounts?
skrutsch: Probably.
Mike A: Only cool ones.
scriptorum: Nope, they'll figure out how to earn them soon enough.
Lord_Prussian: No
r2mites: I'm for it
LudesFactor: no
snoozefest: no
Wanax: yes
2amp: yes, if that were the practice
erli: I think so...why should new members be jilted
fellonmyhead: No
RandallPeek: Sure. It isn't like it's a non-renewable energy source or something.
djlg: No.
Longbow: nope
apotheos: no
Wintergoblin: yes
Jester28: Yes
gnomehome: I didn't know that. BTW - no
isolated: YES!
Cavedog_pdx: No but I think good questions should get geekgold.
AlorielLelyn: That would be nice...
sumo: Yes, as long as it is back dated to all those who missed out.
djflippy: It's up to Derk & Aldie.
Salt-Man Z: That might be nice. Just a couple to get them started.
thoia: Shrug, Doesn't matter to me. I'm realtively new and have been able to generate gold enough to satify me. I've got an avatar and almost had a badge but then I did give away 30 GG for help designing flyers for my gaming group, so it's alright.
tragicpoet: I just want an avatar!
puffinge: Please gift me.
Belash: yes, send me 11 so I can buy an avatar please.
HBGlover: I'm pretty sure I never got any... wait a minute...
Eric Haas: What would be the point?
Johan: No, it would only be abused and the economy would become worthless.
Gelatinous Goo: no, earn it, freeloaders
BobDodgerBlue: No, even speaking as a new member
derk: Wait for it... we're workin' on this issue.
Flyspeck23: No.
Andy Parsons: Yes
viogression: No
mfrederick: No. Plenty of GG in the system. Early on people needed to be driven, but not now.
louiseh: I dodn't know that they were. Yes, that might be a good idea.
mrbeankc: Yes because now you have a two caste system. The old ones who got it and the new folks who can't earn any
GuyHill: did you get free GeekGold??? Give me mine!
Grod: No
Blackwind: no
CDRodeffer: Should old members be retroactively given GG for earlier submissions?
chaddyboy_2000: No.
shumyum: hell no!
Spielfreak: no
ynnen: It was a nice incentive program to encourage/retain users. Now, I think GG should be used as incentive to encourage strong content.
CortexBomb: No, I don't really think so. It's not really that useful beyond a certain point anyway, and getting to the first 30 should never be that hard, especially with the higher awards for reviews now, not to mention all the contests that people run
jttm: Nahh
MisterCranky: Yes, and everybody who missed out should get a free handful too.
ValJor: I didn't know that! But I would say that no. GGs should be for content not just for existing
skelebone: Perhaps, but what happens to the people in the middle? Mass noogies?
