¿Question #1427?
Aiken Drum: when you lose a game, did you play poorly or did your opponents play well?

styates: I normally lose, but it's because I play with people who are really good at games. Yeah, that's it.
ocdspectrum: Usually some of both.
oldhoss: Sometimes.
tumorous: Generally: both.
jokerjesterknave: I can lose or win while playing poorly or well. I can lose or win while my opponents play poorly or well. I cannot win while playing poorly AND while my opponents play well.
Woelf: If I *lose* a game it was most likely due to poor play on my part. If my opponent *wins* the game, it's most likely because they played well.
bcooperok: they cheated.
Dansun: A combination of both, I think. Sometimes I play really poorly, sometimes they play well and sometimes they play well while I play poorly.
daveroswell: The fates were against me.
Phil Fleischmann: Usually
aleo09: i prob. played poorly.
MamaRat: Usually I screwed it up. Of course, when I win, it's not because I played well, it's because I drew all the right cards or someone else screwed up.
pusherman42: It's too relative. If we all played "poorly" by professional standards, but they played better than I did, then they played well.
artyomch: 20% of the first and 80% of the second. Or maybe 30% and 70%. Or 40% and 60%, eh? :)

tdyck: its not whether you win or lose, but whether or not you had fun screwing someone over
mpw182: like I ever lose
KentuckyKid: Of course, it is usually a mix.

Chris Page: Yes.
scriptorum: Usually a bit of both, sometimes just luck on either part.
confuse_a_cat: If there's an objectively best way to play a game and I lose, the two choices often end up being roughly the same. I suppose which one happens to be the case in a given game is a matter of whether my opponent or myself usually plays closer to such a standard.
Platinum Dragon: Most often the latter.
brainrob: usually a bit of both
LemonyFresh: I can't make a blanket statement as such.
SenorOcho: Statistical anomalies.

ynnen: Most likely a combination of both, but they usually don't have to play very well to beat me -- I try experimental strategies quite often.
Blackwind: both
jttm: Both
skelebone: Usually my opponents played well, just better.
CortexBomb: Depends on the game. If I lose a game I'm good at, that is high skill I would give the credit to the opponents. If I'm new at it, it's more of a combination. I'm not saying I can't have off games, even in titles that I'm good at, but in that case I would certainly give more credit to the opposition than denigration to myself
StormKnight: Neither! It was the luck of the draw! The dice! The bad position!
BobDodgerBlue: I have lost games, I have been beaten, and I have lost to luck.
Spielfreak: There's truth in both of those reasons.
buergerberatung: do i really have to answer that question right now, without contacting my lawyer first ?
