¿Question #152?
ynnen: How heavily do BGG reviews/comments impact your decision to purchase a new game?

Inkedad: middling
pricero1: Very much - it's only through BGG that I hear about new games at all.
oldhoss: I definitely take them into account when researching whether I might like a game. I especially listen to comments/reviews from people who seem to like similar games to me.
Frubgarde: I can't deny that they influence me. Boardgames are not cheap, and informed opinion is useful.
Jbrady: 95%
wizalou: somewhat
bcooperok: Only in relation to Martin Wallace. Need to know if I need calculus to play.
Threedub: As if Gabourey Sidibe was sitting on my chest.
Havox: Very much, I think you can find mostly honest opinions on the boards.
Spirit of 70: Fairly often.
Jatoha: I got nothing else to go by, so quite heavily
lacxox: Quite much. But I have learned to know what to look for. It's not simply 'buying the best-reviewed, best-ranked games'. I haven't even tried 70% of the top 100.
kallman1206: I tend to jump into things and then wish later that I'd checked BGG before. OR, am pleasantly surprised. Watch my money fly away...
Paladin_fin: A fair bit. I usually do like to "read-up" before making a decision to buy.
TheMadVulcan: Quite a bit, I suppose. Of course, it depends on how they are written, but mostly I search them for game elements that I enjoy or don't.
Luthrin: Not at all at the moment. At the moment I'll probably only buy games I've already played elsewhere
Mousey: a great lott, 80% of the time I first read everything there is about it on BGG, the other 20% is in Essen
WatchmanX2000: not at all
legendno6: Very heavy
kensheffield: Moderately
gmcash: only mildly because everyone has different likes/dislikes
Longcoat: they tip the balance on any unknown game.
hannibal twin 8: Very heavily. Just the other day, I decided to purchase after just ONE reveiw of War of the Rings. But it was by Tom Vassel! So that makes it all better.
El Hidalgo: Pretty often. Recently a negative review had several comments attached that indicated that the reviewer had not read the rules carefully enough. Other reviewers found the game enjoyable. Bought it.
vampywife: not really at all
bigbadsteve: quite a bit, if they answer certain questions i have about a game
eknauer: Quite heavily...too costly otherwise.
TheMoss: Before I buy, I often look up a game to see if TomVassel has done a review. If he hasn't I'll look at what others say but I'm a bit more cautious because I don't feel like I know the other reviewers styles and tendencies as well. I don't care much about the final evaluations so much as what they say about the rules and the various details since that seems more objective to me.
iam_emperor: Somewhat, i will check to make sure i am getting my money's worth in terms of components and finished product.
jjloc: very
TheArchAngel: pretty much
DHEK: Quite heavily, especially if I do not have access to any other easy source of checking out a potential purchase myself.
aleo09: depends.
jhenke: In terms of fun had vs. investment, alot. I like the good and bad comments as they help me feel out a game unseen since I'm the only buyer in my groups.
puddnhead: Quite a bit -- not so much the postive or negative, but the descriptions & reasons. If someone just says "awesome!" & nothing else, that has little effect
_Kael_: Heavily
puffinslayer: Fairly heavily.
Brykovian: Since I don't have a lot of personal background playing the newer games, BGG (and its reviews/comments) has been my starting point in researching games that I might like to get ... from there I usually do some additional research before buying.
arnest_r: Quite a lot.
erikk: They would sway me if I were on the fence
jupawsly: Somewhat heavily.
greglios: Somewhat. BGG points me in the direction of games but I still like to try before I buy.
roberto: Not much. Lots of people on BGG have the habit of commenting badly a game if it's not as heavy as Puerto Rico.
Chrysophylax: I rely on BGG only as supplement to first-hand gaming experience.
SisyphusX: Very mildly.
jeremycobert: very much
brainrob: These days - absolutely zero
dmomo: Pretty often.
Chris Page: None. Though they may slant me in the direction of which games I'd like to make an effort to play sometime in the future.
FrozenHoHos: I read the good and bad to help make a decision. So far I've been happy with everything I bought with two games pending.
SparkValor: A little bit.
scriptorum: Heavily. I rely quite a bit on GeekBuddy comments. I will read a review to get a better idea about the game, or maybe see how well it scales down to two players.
igorl: Somewhat
scribidinus: Not so much on wargames but when I venture into euros they have a major impact.
Phuntom: About 50% of my decision is based on the rating/reviews/personal comments
hellsbishop: Eh, not too much, I usually don't buy games I haven't tried before.
POvidiusNaso: When I'm on the fence, they're very helpful. Sometimes, though, I know I'm just going to buy something.

Syrion: Quite heavily, so far--though I'm just starting the hobby.
Commandex: Huge
fledermaus: If I haven't played the game, a fair amount

javelin98: They do factor in, but I don't really know how much.
ssmooth: Well, they have some effect on whether I want to try a new game, and what I think when I try it leads to whether I buy it or not.
thugbert: a lot
GrandpaDave: A lot
Cavedog_pdx: Second only to playing a game.
BaSL: 7.6
sbszine: If it's rated below 6.00 I probably won't consider it. If it's rated higher, I'll read the negative comments before buying.
Randy Cox: They have a little impact, but not a ton.
familygaming: Fairly strongly. Especially ratings/comments
Mosse: Very much so. It's my primary source of information.

GuyHill: quite a bit
Grod: I actually pay a lot of attention to the reviews and comments and often make purchasing decisions based on what I read here.
StormKnight: A reasonable amount
Nightmare: Fairly heavily
dakarp: Usually, I try to play a game before I buy it, but reviews may affect what games I try, and sometimes I buy a game that sounds intersting (from BGG reviews/comments) if I don't think I'll get a chance to try it.
DangerMouse: I'd say there's a fair amount of weight I give to comments from people I know.
djlg: 7.84762
djflippy: BGG content factors heavily, particularly if it's a game that isn't out yet, but people here have had the chance to play it. I don't usually buy a game solely from a recommendation, nor do I avoid a game just because someone here didn't like it, but those are just the extremes.

MikeMKH: Very high
