¿Question #1644?
puffinge: What game has been ruined for you due to overanalysis of the proper strategies on the internet?
ocdspectrum: None yet, thankfully!
Leo-T: Several Puerto Rico, some of the 18xx games, Steam. I play too many different games to take the time to become an expert at one. :)
Woelf: Your mom.
Caerid: Dominion, but I only have the base set so far, I'm sure that will change once expansions get included.
Spirit of 70: None of them.
Archvile: Maybe constructed M:tG.
blackstratguy: Slapjack.
Vitriool: Caylus
danafarr: None.
RandallPeek: Chess. My god, its just a game, people! It isn't a lifestyle choice!
Megadev: none
Thegreatrob: L5R
sdonohue: tic-tac-toe
TamiWhitsett: I try to avoid such analyses.
ZiggyZambo: none
DHEK: None that I know of so far...
ben21: Chess and Super Smash Brothers Melee
cggritt: Puerto Rico
POvidiusNaso: I'm kind of non-plussed by the auction analyses of Amun-Re, but rather than feel like the game is solved, I get antagonistic and try to win with "sub-optimal" strategies, sometimes pulling it off.
katang: None
Capitaine Grappin: Not a game yet
evilone: None. The more analysis the better. I read it if I want, or don't read it. I still enjoy all strategy board games.
Killjoy: puerto rico
MaksimSmelchak: N/A.
greglios: None yet cos I haven't read anything much about game strategy.
Cut & Space: Niagara and the 4 four purples stones strategy.
scriptorum: None, I love strategy analysis.
jcarvin: Puerto Rico to the point that I won't just play it with anyone.
vampywife: none, i don't get into that stuff.
Novembernight: San Juan
brainrob: PR
Chris Page: Puerto Rico.
Loquutus: Puerto rico, without a doubt.
dietevil: None, because I ignore those converations usually
tipigi: none
LemonyFresh: Zertz
davidgpeterson: Diplomacy
bigbadsteve: Chutes and Ladders
_Kael_: Almost Puerto Rico. I quit reading just in time...
davedanger: none
JCooperofCharity: None have ruined my opinion of the game, just rather adapted to it.
DaGen: Chess!!
locusshifter: nothing
Domokun: I try to stay away from strategy articles
skrutsch: none, if I don't want analyis, I don't read it
ssmooth: None
archduke: PR
jellospike: none
Lanthar Illumen: None.
mrbeankc: none
bored: axis and allies
anson: Puerto Rico.
Gecko23: I don't think the game is what I'd be worrying about ruining via 'overanalysis of the proper strategies on the internet'. I'd strongly suspect my personality though.
Knowbody: None. I have not indulged in that reading area.
The Unbeliever: 42
arkibet: None.
SteveK2: puerto rico
BaSL: i don't listen to other people
meshuggener: Masterpiece.
jimchris: It is not the analysis which ruins the game, but what is done with it, by the players.
-Johnny-: PR
Lord_Prussian: Chess
wcordewiner: I don't read strategy articles
Lucimara: I avoid reading anything because of that. So none ruined.
snoozefest: none ruined
ntrolls: Puerto Rico
toulouse: PR
ValJor: I don't read those articles, so, none
WasQ: none
kennyb: none yet
Tim Synge: FreeCell.
dakarp: Not ruined, exactly, but Puerto Rico is hard to play for fun--I feel too far behind the curve.
2amp: battle for moscow
heli: none of them
nexttothemoon: None...I try not to read any in depth strategies of any games. I imagine Puerto Rico and San Juan would be two for sure that would go downhill in a hurry if I did more reading on them. I like the imperfection of everyone playing at about the same level and discovering what strategies work and which don't on our own.
MisterCranky: The Prisoner's Dilemma.
Randy Cox: Puerto Rico. It's useless to play at conventions now because someone will accuse you of using the old school Timmerman opening when the new rage is the Wallace-Hoover move.
Gonzaga: Not been in such a situation yet.
m_r_tyler: None. I guess I just haven't read that many analyses on the Internet.
isolated: I avoid those arcticles like a diseased teddy bear.
puffinge: PR and POF
Favre4MVP: none, because I don't read them. I'm sure Puerto Rico has been ruined for plenty of people though.
gnomehome: None
sumo: None, as I never read strategy articles.
chaddyboy_2000: None.
skelebone: No game has yet been ruined by reading for me.
djlg: Puerto Rico... until I just refused to read anything about it and forgot everything I already had read.
jttm: PR
djflippy: Haven't seen that much strategy info.
CortexBomb: None of them, but I haven't read the analysis for any games beyond PR either, and even that was a long time ago. I think strategy guides are generally a good way to spend some time analysing as the writer, but that they can make games play out faster than they should. This might be part of the reason why I prefer PR with Expansion buildings now, because the game is less analysed in non-standard configs
onky: catanj
Aelf: Twilight Imperium 2nd Edition
CDRodeffer: None that I can think of.
Blackwind: none
