¿Question #1863?
[Deleted user]: [deleted question]
seminole: board gamers get lots of ass, i would take the job any day
Phil Fleischmann: Yes. Maybe.
Inntrepid: Maybe if the job itself was interesting and there was not too much of a paycut.
jasta6: No, No...........................................
Mondior: Depends on what the job is. I am a Paramedic, so I need excitement
ZeroZilla: I have family responsibilities, so I'll have to go with 'no, unless I get paid more'.
Polgara: yes, no comment :)
DKahnt: no
gmcash: I would. Don't care so much about pay and hardly anything could be less interesting than what I do now
Rexas: Yes I would. I would change my mind if is was less interesting.
Bakelite: Yes, and no.
catbuggy: I wouldn't quit my job, because I don't want to mix work and pleasure. What would I do weeknight to change my mind from work.
shteev: Dunno. I don't like the idea of HAVING to be creative every day. I have friends in the computer games industry, and during those periods when no-one has a good idea, they all have to start work on their bad ideas. At those times, I'd rather go and do something else.
chockle: I cannot stand to play prototypes
petegrey: Yes, maybe and possibly
waza: Yes, Depends how much less (I still need to make payments on the house)
DHEK: Yeah, if it paid well and I would like what I am supposed to do. Yes, the answer might change if I got paid much less or if the position is less interesting than what I am now doing.
aleo09: sure. it would depend on how much less, we've got families to support.
blindspot: Yes. Depends how much less. Same pay less interesting would be ok.
PsyJam: My answer is yes.
jjloc: If I got paid less then I would not be able to buy the games that I want.
Blacknightjj: yes.....Yes.....yES
Imago: no...
vampywife: it would depend on the job. if it was a good job that paid well and was interesting, i would switch, but i'm not going to quit one job for the sole reason of working in the board game industry.
Dorque: Yup. Nope. Yup.
Big Bad Lex: No, No & No
puffinge: too late
SkyBry: Yes. Yes.
dwarf: Yes. No. Yes.
brainrob: Yes. No and yes.
Innocent Bystander: yes, and yes. I'd like to make boardgames but I also like having money
Numskull: Yes. No.
chillrunr: yes, and yes
Igloo cool: Possibly
GrandpaDave: Yes. I dunno about the pay, but the position doesn't matter.
TaliaIsabelle: yes, no
dietevil: I wouldn't quit my day job to work in boardgames because it's a very tricky business...as I know from experience.
skrutsch: Part two determines my answer to part one. I'd want the job to pay okay, maybe a bit less and be interesting. I don't want to be packing boxes all the time.
CharlieWonka: I would quit regardless to work in the industry as long as it wasn't a boring job like packaging.
TMJJS: no
tipigi: yes, but only if I could make the same salary.
ngymish: Dunno. Guess I'd cross that bridge when I came to it.
scribidinus: I think I worked in the board game industry once. I ran a plastic injection machine for a company that made colored plastic pawn like thingies. I didn't like it.
Bearcat89: Oui. Oui.
lwheeler: Yes. Depends on how much less. "Objectively less interesting" is an oxymoron.
daw65: The industry is much less important than interest in the work.
TyrAnasazi: YEs I will quit my job to work in the boardgame industry even if they pay less. It is better to have a job that you like than having lots of money.
The Unbeliever: 42
BaSL: yes. it can't be.
Gargoyle: Sure. And if it would pay less, it would be criminal even in Eastern Europe.
tomski: Right now, yes.
ThatFalafelGirl: sure. if it means less retail. but i get to sell games, so that's pretty cool.
Lord_Prussian: Yes and yes
LudesFactor: yes, with little hesitation / no
KnobDoctor: What kind of work are we talking?
snoozefest: y; y
djlg: Maybe. Maybe. No.
Jern: No
jmagnini: but I dont have a job
Mike A: Maybe. Maybe.
MisterCranky: Hell no. Screw the boardgame industry. Have you met some of those losers?
darthcliff: Yes. Yes.
nexttothemoon: I probably would, but not if it would be less interesting. Less pay and more interesting yes...less pay and less interesting...no. I'm not that much of a masochist yet.
ValJor: I would not quit my present job to work in the BG industry, I really like my job and I prefer to have games as my hobby, not as my career
2amp: i'd do it for half current wage. no job could be less interesting than what i currently do
Flyspeck23: Yes (industry). Yes (paid less) and perhaps (less interesting).
jpact: No. Games are my hobby not my career.
Wintergoblin: I might if it paid more.
batman: No, I like my job.
DJinSD: I would if I could make an equivalent salary.
gnomehome: Yes, yes
CDRodeffer: I would have to consider the job.
TragicHeroBC: If I could sustain myself (which includes paying my loans) as a game /designer/ I would. I probably wouldn't for much else, though.
Karlsen: I would, however it would not be financially viable to do so at the moment given that it is unlikely I could get an equivalent pay and have Daughters and Debts to help support
kennyb: no ...i need lots of money with which to purchase said boardgames
AlorielLelyn: Yes, I would. No it wouldn't change my answer, since I currently have no job :P
jttm: Depends on the position. Coffeeboy to Mr. Knizia, while very prestigious and highly-sought after, would not be my thing.
Blackwind: Yes, yes
CortexBomb: This really isn't hard for me, because my present job is just subbing, which is a throwaway way to earn money before I go off to grad school. Right now, definitely I would go to work in the BG industry...the more interesting thing is whether I would give up, say, a professorship or curator job to work in the industry, and I would probably say no to that, because my academic interests are a big part of my life and self-identity
chaddyboy_2000: Probably not.
Spielfreak: no
huber: No.
skelebone: I probably couldn't work somewhere that I get paid less than I do now.
