¿Question #195?
Fawkes: Do you think a person's behavior when playing games reflects that person's true character?
Ruesailmana: Yes, especially in games like TI4
oldhoss: Yes, generally.
Pithagoras: usually
martidem: Without a doubt!
weed131: yes
bcooperok: Based on our last session of "Can't Stop", I hope not. Bad things happened. Very bad things.
Jatoha: awwww, Fawkes.... why did you go????
manutd03: I have observed that it does
Nikku: yes
Woelf: Yes, unless they're a Cylon
Globulon: yes
jessitron: probably. Then again, they may be on good behaviour in the social setting.
batesbj: Absolutely! One person in my gaming group can't stand to lose so her husband backs down from playing like he normally would just to keep her talking to him.
muzfish4: Yes, at least a little.
Blott: To a small extent.
genequagmire: Hopefully not.
Polgara: at least part of his/her character
sarastar: I think so!
Wes Hope: yes
paattymaton: yes
ZeroZilla: A person's behaviour always reflects on their character. On the other hand, I have a problem with the inclusion of the word 'true' in that sentence in that it implies most people hide theirs, AND it doesn't allow for off days/ foul moods.
Rliyen: Yes.
cgund: everything a person does/says reflects their true character
chockle: Good question. I think a person's true character is tempered by morality, ethics, & the law. In many games, the boundaries of the rules let a player do things they would never do in "real" life.
Golux: I do...
waza: No
mckeon13: yes
DHEK: Not necessarily.
themagni: Only if they're playing their true personality.

gf_ripper: sometimes yes. other times they are ROLE PLAYING
xdelamuertex: Yes, its called being competitive
POvidiusNaso: To some extent.
Red Dragon: Some aspects, yes, other aspects, no. Someone who cheats at the game is very likely dishonest in many other ways away from the game. Someone who betrays your trust in Diplomacy or any other game could be your most trustworthy friend in real life, because the point of the game is to allow a player to do what they otherwise would not.
donbaloo: Absolutely
ZiggyZambo: Yes
Ebon Wendigo: Yes
joshua1281: Nope
HScottBuck: Yep
Cut & Space: A bit yeah
vampywife: not always. sometimes it's just a way to project a different persona, just like in rpgs
NeoSkywalker: Yes.
gr8lookinguy: sometimes depends on the asshole
Gizensha: Not really, since in competetive games there's no point playing them unless you try and win, and life isn't really a win or lose event.
mlanza: It can reflect parts of it, but it doesn't have to. There are many variables...
xianrotide: Yup.
twixter: more than we like to admit...
Helenoftroy: yes, or at least one particular gaming buddy. Growing up, I could hardly play a game because my dad was too busy telling me what moves I make. And in real life, he's a controlling ass- so yes absolutely.
Kazin: To a certain degree.
MagBas: Somewhat.
ZombyDawg: No
mrspank: Sometimes.
Favre4MVP: yes
LemonyFresh: Yes
Gialmere: In many cases yes, but a veteran gamer might be trying a strategy that has nothing to do with how good or evil (or whiney) s/he is.
SiddGames: I think the approach may reflect how one approaches real problems, but actual play style (aggressive, cautious, backstabber, honorable) not necessarily.
Cyberjunk: Not in Shadows Over Camelot.
bigbadsteve: Not always
vetinari7878: Not always, but up to a point, yes.

Aldie: Yes.
Donkey Thong: Not at all
janiera: Sometimes.
Hallow: in some

shotokanguy: In some ways. Just because you play the Germans in WWII doesn't make you a Nazi, or even an advocate of war, but the way people win and lose games definitely reveals something about them.
HBGlover: To an extent.
skelebone: Maybe, but not any moreso than their behavior when hit in the face with a stingray.
EYE of NiGHT: Absolutely. The gaming is the eyes of their soul.

coolio: Yes
CDRodeffer: Yes, absolutely!
Gregarius: No, but it is one facet
