¿Question #2035?
Karlsen: Bang! Is this game a bit problematic with deputies and renegade(s) who don't protect the Sheriff at the start of the game? i.e. would it be better with smart deputies and renegades?
Woelf: But then you can't make the "I shot the sheriff but didn't shoot the deputy" joke multiple times during every round!
Ciffy: yes.
El Heff: I don't think it's problematic. In fact, for maximum fun, it's nice to sometimes have Bang! players do things that are not predictable. By having Deputies and Renegades do the unthinkable, it can really throw in some spice to a game that can often become predictable.
cylonathalf: The overall game seems problematic, and doesn't seem worth fixing.
Varduk: Yup. Reach for your gun
Nikku: Never played.
BeeCeeJay: Depends on the players
The Unbeliever: 42
Chrisrob: No, confusion and people doing the wrong thing is part of the fun.
gmcash: probably would be, but game is fun anyway
HappyProle: I dare you to name a game that wouldn't be better with smart deputies and renegades.
DHEK: Yes, of course it is. Smart deputies and renegades would make the game better, yes. Of course, smart players in all roles would make the game better, too.
TheArchAngel: never saw it
SybotCB: Yes.
Nikoms: Never played
bonz: the smarter (more experienced) the players, the better. a few tactics: it's crucial for the renegade to help the sheriff in a 4 player game. the more deputies a sheriff has, the easier it may be, if the sheriff doesn't blindly kill of his own deputies (loss of all his cards). deputies should start eleiminating outlaws and renegades as soon as possible to give the law an advantage. outlaws should start shooting the sheriff as soon as possible, to show themselves to their comrades.
SisyphusX: Most games are improved with intelligent players.
Chris Page: Deputies should shoot first and ask questions (like, "Why did I lose again") later.
brainrob: It's fine for what it is
puffinge: play a better game
Splinter: Only if there is a dumb sheriff
Winter Wolf: I say stick with cops and robbers.
mrspank: It's extremely easy for the outlaws to win if the renegade doesn't protect the Sheriff early.
hacksword: Vin Diesel
scriptorum: Dunno.
toulouse: Oh, I really need to play this
vetinari7878: You're absolutely correct.
Snappatoon: Much
e.c.r.: yes
beakermyers: ?????
Marlowe_PI: Got me. Last game I owned with a ! in the name was Sorry!
jim.brooks10: yeah...never made sense to me either
POvidiusNaso: Invariably.
Mikebegeta: ?????
davedanger: better with another game
Great Dane: Yes
Karlsen: Yes
thoia: not played it, but want to.
Belash: no
AWildEep: It's a good game... try it again.
kennyb: define smart
dougadamsau: Yes, this from a recently fallen Sheriff!
Musti: If the deputies play it smart, they don't protect the sheriff in the first rounds
skrutsch: I haven't played enough to answer that. Sorry.
Redneon: No.
Randy Cox: It would be better if we just ignored that it exists.
DangerMouse: Smart deputies are a plus, but calling the dumb ones Barney Fife afterwards makes up for it a little bit
Lord_Prussian: No, it's fun
mandj2001: indeed
djlg: Definitely need a smart renegade. They're the balancing mechanism. Deputies should already know thier place.
2amp: never played it
snoozefest: 1 play - can't say
gnomehome: Never played
stephensj23: No, I do not think different players will affect the quality of this game.
pronoblem: Yes.
heli: no
BobDodgerBlue: Not for the outlaws (Its always easier to win when the opponents suck)
ValJor: Every game is better with smarter players.
skelebone: Dunno, most games I've played have just been fun.
chaddyboy_2000: It's a fun game however you play.
AlorielLelyn: Haven't played Bang...
CDRodeffer: People gain experience as they play.
Dave: I violently disagree with Spielfreak. I think it's in everyone's interests to *not* protect the sheriff, so that the game will end sooner.
Blackwind: dunno..just got the game.
jttm: Nah. Its a party game.
CortexBomb: I don't think it would really matter that much, the game is so random anyway
MisterCranky: No...all games are made eminently more enjoyable through poor planning and incompetence. It's what we're taught to do in the USA from an early age.
Spielfreak: I think it's in everyone's interests to protect the sheriff, at least until other's intentions are discovered.
