¿Question #2128?
puffinge: Have you ever declared hosage in a game and then ended up winning? Do you know what the penalty is for that?
Hector Vortac: Slow clap
balzi: I have. The penalty is being ignored in all subsequent games by people who were there for the whingeing
bgraves: probably much less than declaring, "hostage."
ghira_impavida: I don't understand the question
chrisdk: Not that I'd remember, as I hardly ever declare hosage at all.
daveroswell: Yes. The penalty? Winning.
Jythier: No, but the penalty is being hosed in every subsequent game.
pusherman42: What? No.
badgeguy: Yes and yes. Any other questions?
dfniii: Yes and No
Geosmores: no
jeffwolfe: Yes. No.
DHEK: Hmmm... probably been there. There's no penalty for something like that!!! Stop making things up!
Sandy Petersen: No one respects the next 4 times you claim hosage.
kevinwho: Why yes, yes I have. Most recently in a game of Winner's Circle, I made no cash at all on the first race, very little on the second, and was completely out of it. In the third race, my double-bet was alone on the winning horse, the pace horse, which I bid on, came in second with one other bet on it, and somehow I won by the slimmest of margins ($50). My penalty? Had to play a second game. :-)
scriptorum: "Declared hosage?" You're so down with the Gen-speak, Puffinge. As for your questions, yes and no please do tell.
POvidiusNaso: I have. Twenty cents?
aleo09: no
Leo-T: a couple of times. No, I just chalk it up to my superior play
Dweeb: Whine, whine, whine, whine, win. That's my strategy.
hoffcorp: Yes. No.
javelin98: Yes, and no. But I assume you will tell me at some point.
xandryyte: LOL!!! This is soooooo funny... My group gives me my due teasing on this one, I would say I don't know what I am doing so I am going to lose and then go on to win the game. I do my best not to say it much anymore...
vampywife: i've not, and there isn't a penalty
Dorque: Nope. Kick in the nards.
netfilterz: Sure... And I didn't realise there was a penalty for falsy declaring hosage...
jasta6: no,no.............................................................what is hosage??
brainrob: Hosage?
MK-Ultra71: 12 lashes with a wet noodle
xlorp: Having to answer all of puffinge's questions in one day.
GrandpaDave: Hostage?
chockle: Yes. Embarrassment.
richdknows: no
jellospike: what is that?
gt8595b: never heard of it
ValJor: Yes, more than once. There is a penalty?!!
Steve Leach: Never hosage, I once declared shenanigans and won. That was a cold run down the street.
Ludocrazy: Many times. Penalty: your fellow players' scorn.
heli: more hosage
dietevil: Not sure... the opposite I'm sure has been true though.
mandj2001: yup. the penalty is a total loss of bragging rights.
glookose: i dont know what declaring hosage means in the first place
Lord_Prussian: Yes, I definitely have. The penalty is that noone believes you when you say you are hosed (not that they did before anyway).
skrutsch: All the time. Embarassment?
snoozefest: no no
Karlsen: Please explain "declared hosage"
batman: yes. There isn't a penalty
kennyb: please define hosage
Aldie: Yep... death.
gnomehome: I'm afraid so. Being ruthlessly persecuted in all other games that evening.
nexttothemoon: No...and no.
tragicpoet: Yes, death
erli: The penalty: told you can never declare hosage again...hasn't stopped me :-D
dakarp: No. But if a certain person I know continues to do so at the beginning of every game, she will end up paying the penalty. And, of course, the penalty is never being able to declare hosage again.
Blackwind: hosage?
djlg: Yes. No penalty. Its a constitutional right of all game players to whine about thier position.
puffinge: I don't think I've done that. The penalty is you are never allowed to declare hosage again, surely everyone knows that.
jttm: No
jpact: No, but I came really close in Coloretto a week or so ago. It was brilliant and I manipulated some real key plays but still came up 2 points short of the win. It was a spectacular rally.
AlorielLelyn: I think I did once. I thought I was ruined, then turned things around and won. The penalty is that everyone you played with hates you, and you spend the rest of your life saying "I can't believe I won that game.."
chaddyboy_2000: Yes, no.
CDRodeffer: No and no.
Spielfreak: no
CortexBomb: Absolutely, and I think there should be no penalty...if people don't realise that you could be crying hose as a tactic then they don't deserve to keep their god awful leads ;-)
skelebone: Hosage? Garden or rubber? Only in the Welcome Back Kotter Up Your Nose With a Rubber Hose Game.
