DHEK: Yes. EVERYONE should use the same system for convenience. Since most people in the world are already using the metric system AND the metric system is easier, the US should just convert. I don't know how much it'll cost to convert, but converting earlier will cost less than later.

AlorielLelyn: Outrageously expensive to convert everything. Street signs, gas stations, cars, kitchen measuring tools, cartons, rulers in every school, recipes... the list goes on and on... That's why it failed back in the 70s and 80s here, and that's why it failed to a large degree in the UK as well (still use miles on their roads among other things).
