¿Question #220057?
Tim Synge: Phil asked about GeekQuestions "going away". It sounds so harmless, doesn't it? Perhaps GeekQuestions is just taking a short holiday (US: vacation) and will be back soon? Or maybe it's like the way we break bad news about death to children (as in "the cat has "gone away"") when they are too young to deal with the reality of a tragic situation. Just give me the plain unvarnished truth here. I can take it. What would you say to Phil? "GeekQuestions is ... "
ThroughTheDeckGlass: Its dead Jim. It is an ex-parrot.
BOBBYCAN: toast.
magikaru: Irreplaceable
RealGuest: being terminated to further BGG's sanitation program.
RavingLoon: Floating in outer space and slowly dying a drawn out and painful death as its crew abandon it.
purplewurple: taking a short vacation at Lake Laogai.
Phil%20Fleischmann: Well, yeah, it is harmless. I don't know the full story, but I can make an educated guess, based on my years of experience with BGG and the people who run it: The people who run BGG are somewhat annoyed with GeekQuestions and want it to go away. Because it uses "resources", is largely irrelevant to boardgaming, doesn't follow the general format of the website, and doesn't conform to their image of what a fully up-to-date website should look like. However, they aren't sufficiently annoyed with GQ to actually put much effort into making it go away. So instead, they just hide it and ignore it, which is much easier.
Woelf: Living on a nice farm in the country.
