PolarDad: My nephew (not that one) is now texting me on a weekly basis about getting together to play games. He also is becoming a full fledged geek as he is following news of upcoming game releases, watching videos and reading articles about interesting game mechanic implementations, and wants to discuss all these things with me. How lucky am I?!

Fribian: You ARE very lucky. I have a lot of nieces and nephews and not a single one is a board gamer. I tried on several occasions but it fell flat. One niece was looking promising but that ended, just doesn't have the desire to learn.
