¿Question #220313?
PolarDad: Daughter #2 got in an accident last night. She's fine, the damage isn't horrible, and it wasn't her fault. My recommendation to her is going to be to not fix the dents and paint but to put the money into her account to help pay for college or to help buy another car someday down the road. Have you ever made a similar decision?
TomTi89: A certain amount of cosmetic damage adds character to a vehicle. I should know :)
mr3d: Yes, just need to have a look at my car...
RavingLoon: It's good she's not hurt, and if the damage doesn't affect the handling or stability of the car, then I'd advise leaving it be.
Fribian: I am glad she's ok Michael. Yes, I have. Someone keyed my truck, so I just kept the money. Thought about getting a good baseball bat with it but that would go against my nature of holding back the retaliation. I probably bought some nice board games with it though.

pricero1: The car I drive has a decent-sized dent in it, which worries me not at all. Your daughter will certainly have a better use for cash than cosmetic work on a car.
bakermouse: Glad she is ok! If the dents are cosmetic I wouldnt fix them. It will affect turn in value but if you drive it till it dies (like I tend to do) that wont really matter.
mattomaw: Dents and scratched paint are not important. She is. Hopefully her confidence is not shaken. Wish her well from me.

Jedadeana: Yikes! I'm glad she's alright and that the car doesn't sound too damaged. I think your idea is a good one
Woelf: Glad she's okay. I haven't been in any car accidents that resulted in damage (been rear-ended low-speed twice), but there were plenty of other things on my old car that I chose not to fix.
