kswingruber: A few years back, there was one here hammering out his territory on a metal street sign right outside the house: wow was that bad! After a few days of the nerve-wracking cacophony, I put some old chicken wire around the sign... that fixed the problem (and left the sign perfectly visible to drivers)... he went back to hammering on trees, which was a much more natural sound that didn't annoy the whole house.
