¿Question #220718?
rayzg: Yesterday, I biked 31.6 km (19.6 miles) – for a total of 3h 21 min – because the places I had to go to were really far away. What’s the maximum distance you would bike to get somewhere before you would consider another form of transportation?
Fribian: The most I've ever done in one trip is about 50 miles. I wouldn't even try it now. Maybe 20 would be the limit for me. Less than that if I had to ride the streets of Portland (maybe zero then).
Blinko: I would not hesitate to bike 20 miles to get a coffee and then ride back. It all depends on the time and weather for me. But I have ridden plenty.
Tim%20Synge: I'm guessing that you stopped at least once on the route for cake and coffee? (I'm not sure that I would call a place that is 19.6 miles away "really far away", especially in a country the size of Canada!)
imyourskribe: No
Jedadeana: Zero. Bikes and I don't get along
TomTi89: I don't have a bike at the moment, but, if I did, it depends. If it's something like an hour and a half one way, and then straight back again, I won't do that. But if you made lots of smaller journeys over a whole day, which added up to 3h 21, then I could do that. That said, I've gone from a very active job to a less active one, and rented a bike on a holiday recently, and I could hardly walk after just 30 minutes of cycling :P must get back into shape!
TheNameWasTaken: Ten or so years ago I decided to go by bike to my country home - that's a bit over 130km. I spent the whole day on that, and was sore all over for a couple of days. And then a few months later I did it again. But I wouldn't do it now, that's for sure. Nowadays I stick with my bike if I have to go anywhere within the city, particularly if it involves multiple stops, but I'd choose the car for out-of-city trips.
kswingruber: would really depend on if the result of my journy was something that had to be transported back home... I mean... 4 bags of groceries, or a load of gravel? I don't THINK so...
