Tim Synge: You are commissioned to write a new rule which sets out which player goes first in a game of Monopoly. Using a suitably themed approach (compare with such rules as the last player to travel on the subway or the last player to be eaten by a crocodile), what is your new rule?

purplewurple: Bid real money. You might think it unfair, but whatever the market values first player at is by definition fair.
Woelf: The last person to play using the Free Parking lottery (collects all fees paid to the bank, plus an ante) is ejected from the game. The person to their left starts.
pricero1: The player who lived long enough to complete the most-recent game of Monopoloy starts.
