RealGuest: Have you ever had school cancelled due to wind?

TomTi89: I can't remember any weather cancelling school. Other issues have led to it, but not wind.

Fribian: Yes. Columbus Day Storm in 1962. They sent us home. I lived 2 blocks away, and remember the creepy yellow/purple looking sky. Sticks and twigs and leaves all over the place. Complete silence. No animals making noises anywhere. They sent us home during a calm spell. Before we left though, it had been blowing hard. Several of us boys got in trouble for holing our coats open and trying to fly. I bet you couldn't guess who started that.
bakermouse: Yes here in Indiana my kids had school canceled due to wind. 60mph plus, busses don't like that...
Woelf: I don't think wind has ever done it alone, but adding enough snow will do it.
