mr3d: They are by definition in the middle of the road. The real question is, why do they sometimes make the road wider on one side compared to the other?
BOBBYCAN: First, the government hires a consultant firm for $42 million to decide which roads need a line, then hire a contractor for $42 million to mix and deliver the paint, then hire a painter for $42 million but spend a few years working out the $42 million environmental impact report before hiring $42 million lawyers to write up a contract for said painter. The painter then uses a tape measure.
