freechinanow: Favourite public art installation in your neighborhood?

Woelf: There isn't really anything in this city that I'm aware of, but there are a number of murals and sculptures scattered around Green Bay and the attached cities. There was a really nice one with sea life a few blocks south of Lambeau Field, but the building it was painted on was falling apart and finally got torn down a few years ago.
mattomaw: You are mixing your "u" and "not u" spelling there! It is highly attractive! In answer, there is lovely statue of St Brendan looking out over Bantry Bay. St Brendan was a monk who supposedly sailed to America in the 6th century in a leather boat, hundreds of years before Columbus. A man called Tim Severin recreated this voyage in the 80s and proved it was possible.
RealGuest: There's a painted light bulb sculpture on display in a neighbor's yard that's really cool.
kswingruber: Quite a few years back, the city re-did some of the sidewalks. A few business owners along the new sidewalk let their kids push some little glittery glass tiles into the wet concrete. Maybe about 10 square inches total among 4 or 5 little patterns. City had a shit-fit. I grin every time I walk by that area and see them.
oriecat: It's not exactly my neighborhood, and it might not be what you really mean by public art installation, but there's a school nearby that has all these painted owls on the fence (painted by the students) and I LOVE THEM SO MUCH.
