notafish: Question: The card says shuffle a specific card back into the deck. If there are zero of that card type in play, do you still shuffle the deck? Jack wants me to believe that is not cheating.

Anfauglir: Depends on the game. If playing MtG for example, if a specific card is not there, you don't shuffle. But if it says to shuffle any number of cards [of a certain type], you do shuffle, even if there are zero of those cards.

purplewurple: I shuffled zero cards in to avoid drawing what I knew was the top card. A perfectly legal move!!
notafish: There was a Psycho Killer on top of the deck that Jack was trying to avoid drawing!
Woelf: If there's a discard pile that gets shuffled back in, someone had a way to look at one or more of the cards in the draw deck, or the deck's order was predetermined in some other (non-random) way, shuffle the deck. If the deck was already shuffled, and reshuffling won't alter the contents in any way beyond the already unknown order, shuffling is not technically necessary.
