¿Question #223824?
Woelf: What's the best US-based credit (NOT debit) card currently available, in terms of rewards, benefits, rates, etc.? It would be used for mostly mundane things like gas, groceries, and online purchases. Absolutely no use for flyer miles or other travel-based benefits/rewards.
imyourskribe: Seconding Amazon card.
D00MSTALKER: The amazing D00MSTALKER does not provide sound financial advice.
RavingLoon: If you are a big Amazon shopper and have Prime I'd recommend the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature card. 5% back at Amazon and their food store, 2% at restuarants/drug stores/ gas stations, 1% back elsewhere. It also has some other perks, like the VISA Signature hotel stuff, but those involve travel so not applicable to you. It is issued through Chase as well, so a solid bank behind it.
magikaru: Depends what you want to optimize. If you’re not carrying a balance and don’t want to figure out reward point nonsense, a cash-back card is your best bet. The Wells Fargo Active Cash card gives 2% on all purchases, so it might be a good choice. I like this website for comparing credit cards: https://www.nerdwallet.com/compare/credit-cards
pwilz: Discover just pays 1% cash back. Not necessarily the best, but easy and useful.
