oriecat: If you heat up some restaurant leftovers in the paper box, do you eat it out of there or transfer to a real dish like a civilized person? (She asks while eating brunch leftovers from a box.)

pwilz: I just keep the wine in the paper bag I got with it and drink it out of the bottle.

Woelf: I never reheat in the carboard boxes, because the ones around here all come with the metal loop/handle thing, which I'm not going to put in a microwave. Likewise with styrofoam containers, metal loop or not; that seems like it will hold up to heat until it abruptly doesn't, and you start seeing odd melt patterns especially where larger food bits were pressed against it. The nice plastic containers get used for reheating and eating out of, even when they're being reused for other stuff. The only time transfers are made from the plastic containers to a plate of bowl are when the leftovers won't all be eaten in one sitting, and then the transfer is made before heating.
