Ruesailmana: So I finally watched Hamilton on Disney plus since everyone seems to be lyrical about it. I liked the singing, acting and dancing, but it was way too long and I don't care about the story ... at all... Should I have been an American to appreciate this musical?

imyourskribe: I find the subject matter interesting, but I don’t like the music (and dislike musicals in general), so I’ve not bothered to sit through the umpteen hours. So no, being an American is not sufficient. Whether it’s necessary I dunno.
rayzg: Try watching 1776 instead (although you might find the music more irritating than Hamilton, and there isn't much dancing at all).
Woelf: I don't think that would have made much difference. Even most Americans don't care about the subject (assuming they were even taught anything about it in the first place).
