Woelf: What (and where) are some of your favorite museums?

ThroughTheDeckGlass: Not a big museum person, but I like aquariums which are like museums of the sea.
Woelf: My two favorites are both relatively close. The National Railroad Museum in Green Bay has a bunch of old trains and rail cars on static display, many of which you can go inside. The EAA Aviation museum in Oshkosh has tons of unique aircraft on display, plus they have a yearly week-long fly-in event where people and planes from all over the world come to the site. I haven't been to the NRM in a couple years, and several more for the EAA museum, but hope to get back to both relatively soon.
Ruesailmana: preHistorisch Dorp in my hometown of course. I also really like the Tropical Museum in Amsterdam and Electric Ladyland in Amsterdam. I mostly like musea that are interactive without being childish.
Narlgoth: @grimsalt me and you stood in the same museum, looking at the same ornate dildos and getting farted on by the same butt on the wall going up the staircase! I feel like we are kindred spirits!
TomTi89: There are three museums that have meant the most to me. I don't really go that much anymore, but when I was growing up, I would often go to the Natural History Museum [London], the Science Museum [also London, often going to both in one day or weekend] and also a much smaller museum about the local history of this town. The latter had an animatronic man who would talk to you if you tripped the sensor, so I used to try to move across the whole room without setting him off. Not sure if I ever managed to do it.
Grimsalt: Amsterdam : #1 The Heineken Experience Beer Museum - is very memorable because it links all senses. I can still remember the bitter fresh smell of hops, the feel of barley grains running through my fingers, the steam sounds of the brewery and ofc the taste of a many Heinekens. #2 The Venustempel Sex Museum - near the Red Light district, brings historical artifacts into light that you wouldn't believe! Ornate wooden dildos from the Ming Dynasty, Roman penis wind chimes from Pompeii, medieval cast iron chastity belts that had actually been worn, etc etc. Being privy to historical intimacy is quite the surreal experience.
rayzg: My favourite "museum" is the Venice bienlale of contemporary art, which takes over a former army storage building, a park filled with pavilions, and palazzi and other empty stores every other summer.
mattomaw: I like the Victoria and Albert museum in London. And the butter museum in Cork.
pwilz: The Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in DC. The National World War II Museum in New Orleans.
mr3d: Any science museum with experiments is good fun and on the top of my list
