mattomaw: What's the point of being all bottom end if you have no top?

Grimsalt: I had to do some research to answer this Q. Apparently, because Uillean pipes are bellow-blown (using elbow), they can use modulator attachments to reach greater harmonic ranges than Highland pipes, which are mouth-blown (easier to walk around with). Kind of ironic that HIGH-land pipes have the lowest range of the two most common (only?) kinds of bagpipes. Thank you for this wonderful lore piece Matt :)
