¿Question #224892?
freechinanow: Your partner buys a stinky candle. So you throw it out. Later on they ask you where it is. If you say “I’m not exactly sure” that’s not technically a lie, right? I mean, who knows where it is currently in the waste stream, right?
freechinanow: Just to be clear, I didn't conduct any such micro-aggression against my wife. It was just an amusing thought that came to my head after I found a candle we buried in the closet 5 years ago because it smelled so much. I just threw it out and didn't ask her because it's never come up in the past 5 years and it was my job to finally tackle cleaning out the closet. I just thought it would be funny if she asked about the candle now, in the same vein as an elderly Bilbo asking Frodo if he could the hold the One Ring just one more time...
TheGrimReeple: My partner buys a stinky candle. So I either put up with it or say "Honey, that candle stinks, can we get rid of it?"
pwilz: I'm not exactly sure.
TomTi89: When you're the only other person living in the house, and you don't tend to have many visitors, technicalities won't save your life...
oriecat: This whole situation is unacceptable on multiple fronts. SMH.
Grimsalt: Listen to your marriage counselors, don't get Norma Jeane'd.
sparkous: This is the power of fuzzy answers.
Woelf: Don't throw it out, just shove it really far back in a closet where it can't be seen or reached without a step stool or chair. That way it's inaccessible and will hopefully be forgotten about quickly, but could still be produced if directly and specifically asked for (especially under threat of replacement). Fun fact: This works on annoying kids' toys too.
pricero1: Surely your partner knows that you've a sensitive snozzle.
