¿Question #224952?
Woelf: When you have to move a game piece or score marker a specific number of spaces along the board, do you count out each space along the way, do you pick it up and place it directly at the destination, or do you make a series of shorter hops in between?
Woelf: I like to tap each space along the way, especially if there are multiple paths available. When adding up scores on a track, jumping by tens is likely, especially if the score track has different colored marks for every tenth space.
pricero1: A mix of options 2 and 3.
mr3d: I usually use my finger to count the squares in whatever seems the best way and then teleport the marker.
TomTi89: I can do this in my head, and move the marker straight to the new space. However, quite often I play with people who can't necessarily do such instant sums. Sometimes I just say it - "13 to 19". Sometimes I break the number in two, crossing the next 10, for example if they are at 27 and gain 8 points - "that's 3 and 5". Sometimes I just go the really traditional route and count every space.
sparkous: To advance the score counter, I like to counter one square after another. During this time the brain takes a break.
Grimsalt: What Geoff said.
Chris%20Page: Fun fact: Any positive integer can be written as the sum of four perfect squares. Even more fun fact: the other players really love it while you're trying to figure out what those four perfect squares are.
rayzg: I usually count each space because my math skills are so poor. However, with games where players score a lot of points at once, like Torres, I simply ask someone else to add my points.
mattomaw: I think I go straight there if the number is say up to around ten. When it gets to something like 13 and up ( and certainly when it is pushing right up), I probably move it in the blocks of 10 first in one move. And then one small move to take up the rest. So adding 37, say, would be one move of 30 and one of 7.
Blinko: Up through about 5 or 6, I just count along. Any more than that, I just move to where it needs to go.
imyourskribe: What Mindy said
oriecat: All of the above, depending upon mood, how many spaces, what the track is like, etc.
RealGuest: Count out enough to make sure it's right
purplewurple: I hop and land on the 10s, assuming they are marked on the score track. If someone is at 38 points and they gain 14, I usually hop to 40 and 50 in between.
Fribian: I do a little of each depending on how tired the brain is.
PolarDad: If it is noisy or chaotic or if I am thinking through other strategies, I will count it out. Usually, I just jump to the place.
