Blinko: Why don’t electric cars have photovoltaic panels or solar panels on them? Come on!

imyourskribe: I've seen talk about and prototypes of it, but solar panels don't provide enough zap per square inch yet to get more than a trickle into the battery over the course of a trip.
pricero1: They already make tanks seem somewhat lightweight...
Woelf: I think it's a durability issue. Panels like that don't hold up the best to the constant vibrations they'd be subjected to in a moving vehicle.
