¿Question #225519?
Woelf: Do you signal your turns even when there aren't other motorists/bicyclists/pedestrians/etc. nearby?

TomTi89: Yes. Partly out of habit, and partly because I know I am flawed, and may not see a pedestrian who might benefit. Regarding turning lanes, I was trained not to, but am starting to do it now, purely because, at least in this town, a lot of directions are only painted on the road surface. One junction in particular has two lanes. It looks like both go straight, and the left turns left as well, but really the left lane only goes left. But those behind me can't see, and if I'm covering the markings, I might signal / indicate [as we call it here] just to remove the ambiguity.
D00MSTALKER: The amazing D00MSTALKER lives mysteriously therefore never foretelling his next moves.
Gilgermesh: Yes, I'm paranoid that a cop is going to be hiding around the corner and pull me over for not signaling. But I don't signal lane changes when no one is about.
pricero1: Not in my own drive.
imyourskribe: Purty much always
kswingruber: Sometimes, probably... just (a good) habbit. But if I am in a lane that is JUST for turning, i don't bother, even if there is other traffic. I'm in a freekin' turning lane, which the frick way do you THINK I'm going!?
Woelf: Yes, even when leaving our driveway when there is definitely no one else around. It's easier to get in the habit and just do it automatically no matter what, than it is to have to think about whether to do it every time and occasionally forget when you actually need it.
mr3d: Yes, I just assume there might be someone even if I cannot see them.
RealGuest: Most of the time. That's kind of the point -- to warn those you don't even realize may be around.
Jedadeana: Usually
rayzg: I do this out of habit ... even on my bicycle!
mattomaw: Yes except on the single track road that goes past my boreen.
