¿Question #225528?
pricero1: Which ruin allows you to most-easily imagine what it was like in its prime?

Woelf: The US Capitol Building
TomTi89: I haven't been back in many years, but even at the time I knew Aldershot was a ruin. And even then, I could not imagine it even having a prime. Maybe I'll go back and see how the redesigned town is going...
imyourskribe: Is the Colosseum a ruin? I guess maybe not ruined enough for that. Though it is missing all of its marble, so maybe it applies.
D00MSTALKER: The back alley
mattomaw: 3 Castle Head. A ruin at the end of the Mizen peninsula. Pretty ruined but totally untouched really. You have to walk across a load of fields and moor to get there. There is nothing modern there to be seen. A big tall wall with three keeps that, with the help of a lake, cuts off the very end of the peninsula. Once inside the wall, there is an expanse of land, not that big, 20/40 acres maybe, and then steep cliffs down to the Atlantic. It was the defensive position of local clans (O'Sullivan?) where they retreated when threatened. A barren, windswept place of stunning beauty. You can feel the past there. You can imagine all the huts and people milling around. You can really feel the spirit and vibes of what went on there. Small fry compared to grandiose castles or chateaus, but very much real.
