¿Question #226256?
rayzg: What’s the best way to make fries at home without deep-frying them? The best I managed far is to slice potatoes, boil them, then fry them.
mr3d: Cut potatoes, dip them in midium hot olive oil for a while (in a frying pan), then at the end, higher temp. to make them golden outside. If the pan is not so deep it counts as shallow-frying them, which is not the same as deep-frying them at all.
Ruesailmana: I like my airfryer
BOBBYCAN: Those recipes sound delicious, but it's still hard to beat McDonald's fries.
Woelf: Some oil and a large pan in the oven works pretty well.
Jedadeana: I also bake them, like Matt and Robin! After washing, I chop them up (no peeling), put them in a bowl, add a little vegetable oil and stir, then add lots of seasonings- garlic powder, onion powder, rosemary, tiny bit of salt, freshly ground peppercorns, cyan pepper powder, and some paprika or chili powder. Then spread on a tray and bake at 400*F for 30mins to an hour depending on how small or big I cut the pieces/how "crunchy" I want them. Sometimes I increase the heat last 15 minutes to make edges crisper. And cooking cut carrots (or baby carrots) mixed in with the potatoes is fantastic too, often reminds me of sweet potato fries since it brings out a nice sweetness. So maybe just cook carrots that way if you want something more like fries too

mattomaw: Cook them in the oven with a small bit of oil, rosemary and curry powder.
pricero1: Cut the potatoes to a suitable shape and add to baking tray containing a reasonable amount of oil (I use rapeseed oil). Toss the potatoes in the oil and season well. Cook at 190°C in a fan oven for around 20-25 minutes. Stir the potatoes two or three times during cooking.
sparkous: Baked French Fries
