TomTi89: For the person doing the texting, it is too early if it is interfering with your sleep or other commitments, unless it is an emergency. From the perspective of your family, it would again be too early if it came between you and them. I don't worry about whether it's too early for the recipient - if they don't want to be disturbed, they can turn their phone off, mute it, or just ignore you
