¿Question #226760?
pricero1: If you go to a wedding, and it happens that the guy has been married twice before, how politic would it be to say, "Third time lucky!"?
Ruesailmana: Seems appropriate
rayzg: The only appropriate time to say that would possibly when everyone has had several drinks.
TomTi89: I personally wouldn't say it. Equally, if I were the groom, I think I would anticipate such comments, and laugh it off, whether it would be through genuine humour or to just to avoid any conflict. I would feel sorry the bride, if it were her first wedding, though. She wouldn't need to keep hearing such stuff. That's when I would tell people to stop, probably pre-emptively. A wedding where both people are onto their third marriage? Totally different story!
imyourskribe: I'd lol
Woelf: Someone would probably say that, or something similar.
mattomaw: What if it was the woman who had been married twice before?
Jedadeana: Interesting. Over here the expression is "third time's the charm!" Or, I suppose, "three strikes and you're out!"
Grimsalt: I'd say don't Seymour.
