¿Question #226780?
imyourskribe: If a telephone hold system warns you of "extreme call volumes, your wait time will be X units of time", what would you expect the minimum wait time to be?

mr3d: anything between 0 and X
magikaru: “Our wait times reduced significantly after we replaced the on-hold music with the sound balloons make when you rub them together.”
magikaru: “Our wait times have significantly reduced after we replaced the on-hold music with the sound balloons make when you rub them together!”
imyourskribe: In my case, UPS quoted me 12 minutes. It was pretty accurate. This was after navigating an infuriating automated phone system though
Chris%20Page: Measured in units of proton half-lives.
oriecat: I kinda dealt with this earlier, except the first part was just "longer than usual" then once I went through some more prompts and got pushed through it told me my wait time was 30 seconds, and I thought well that ain't bad, I'm glad you didn't scare me off!
RealGuest: Longer than I'll stay on the line typically
MABBY: Since all phone companies only ever employ one actual living person to answer the phones, it will be hours.
Woelf: X = [N+2], where N equals the number of minutes the average person will wait before hanging up.
