¿Question #227099?
rayzg: Do you think Shakespeare should still be taught in high school? I think not, at least in Canada. There are many other Canadian playwrights worth studying, and I think studying Shakespeare often kills any interest in theatre or drama.

Phil%20Fleischmann: Absolutely. If you can't handle Shakespeare, you're an idiot, and will remain so until you can.
PolarDad: May I introduce you to Kenneth Branagh?
Woelf: I'm kinda surprised that dumbfucks in this country haven't tried to ban Shakespeare because back in his day the female roles were played by men.
BOBBYCAN: Not Earth high schools. You have not experienced Shakespeare until you have read him in the original Klingon.
TheGrimReeple: I don't think Shakespeare should be taught anywhere. In his current state, there's no way he's going to learn anything.
Ruesailmana: I don't think I EVER read or studied anything by Shakespeare :) At high school our English teacher was mostly a big fan of Roald Dahl anyway.
pricero1: Studying some Shakespeare and studying some contemporary (Candadian) playwrights are not mutually exclusive. It should never be just the one or the other.
mr3d: My love is thine to teach. Teach it but how, and thou shalt see how apt it is to learn. Any hard lesson that may do thee good.
sparkous: Otherwise you study Molière.
kswingruber: Shakespeare absolutly should be taught. Like half the quotes in the English Language are Shakespeare (the ones that aren't Bibical). And besides... name one Candian playwright... ha! Oh wait... I'm guessing yer one of them Frenchy Weirdos up there...
RealGuest: Is this because Shakespeare didn't write musicals?
