¿Question #228312?
TheGrimReeple: In 1972, a film adaptation of a play called Sleuth was released, starring Laurence Olivier and Michael Caine. It's very good. In 2007, it was remade, starring Michael Caine (in what had been Olivier's role) and Jude Law (in what had been Caine's). It's also good, but like many remakes, not as good as the original. Can you name any other times that an actor has starred in both a film and its remake?
Derang3d: Yes! Adrienne Barbeau was in the Swamp Thing series - if only for a cameo. I think Caine was also in a new version of Alfie?
Woelf: Bringing back original stars in cameos (assuming they're still alive) has almost become the standard at this point, but actually *starring* in both... I know I've seen some, but none are really coming to mind. The Force Awakens brought back almost the entire main cast from A New Hope, but that technically/canonically wasn't a remake even though it pretty much was.
PolarDad: In the same role? Because there are lots of examples with cameos.
