¿Question #228498?
BOBBYCAN: ILOP #17: Do you know what would happen if I (pricero) added potassium metal to concentrated sulphuric / sulfuric acid?
Derang3d: I'd guess it explodes, as natrium tends to do, but I'm not quite on the level of knowing what happens off hand.
imyourskribe: I'm too hungry to be particularly fussed over this chemistry exam question
MABBY: Probably a lot of bubbling and heat, resulting eventually in K₂SO₄ at the bottom of the container and Hydrogen gas being released.
PolarDad: Just finish your dinner
pricero1: Almost nothing - if there were any water at all in the acid, then the result would be explosive, but with concentrated acid there is no problem. (I wanted to fully protonate a ketone with the acid and then allow the protonated ketone to be reduced by the potassium.)
mattomaw: "PRICE!!!! DETENTION!!!". "But why sir?". "DON'T YOU BE CHEEKY YOU HORRID LITTLE BOY!!!! DETENTION EVERY NIGHT THIS WEEK!!!!"
Woelf: You should have chosen Pepsi when you had the chance. Now you're stuck with what you've got.
