¿Question #229701?
PolarDad: What is the difference between oversharing and simply telling a good story?

pricero1: Whether you're still married afterwards if your wife finds out.
xofour: time, distance and the most important element...embellishment.
Derang3d: If it ends with "And then we shouted "The Aristocrats!"", chances are you've taken it too far.
Blinko: Tell your stories PolarDad, we are in the back alley. They may wave a colored card at you, but who cares, add it to your collection.
RealGuest: Your stories and Shea's stories pretty well demonstrate the difference
imyourskribe: Agree with Jeda. Comfort level of the audience is key.
Grimsalt: Details are fine, so long as we don't lose track of the wood for the trees.
0Shea0: When I tell a story, I like to preplan while I poop on the toilet, it's a good time to think, and lately my poop has been coming in waves, so if I just wait a bit I get a softer round after the initial push....sorry what was the question?
MABBY: If you tell more than anyone would ever care about then your good story suffers.
PolarDad: @Jeda- Based on your definition, I don't think I overshare. I just tell detailed stories.
Jedadeana: If there are personal details that make others uncomfortable (and often have no need to know) and/or the story is an uncomfortable topic for the listener
