¿Question #229713?
Derang3d: How many different sauces would you expect to be available when you visit a BBQ? Which sauce really cannot miss?
MABBY: Unless I'm having brisket, ribs, or pulled pork, no sauce is needed. Taste the meat, not the sauce. For the three exceptions, sauce helps seal in juices if you're basting it right.
Derang3d: The normal ketchup and mayo are expected, Whiskey Cocktail and Garlic are slightly less everyday but still normal on BBQ-time, and if there's no Satéh (so peanut) sauce at least half the people will look puzzled. BBQ sauce is probably expected as well but I always skip that so chances are I'd forget all about it.
Woelf: If a restaurant promotes itself as a BBQ place specifically, they need a bare minimum of five options, and no less than three of those must be non-insanely-hot varieties. Famous Dave's Sweet & Zesty is my favorite.
PolarDad: I would expect at least 2-3 usually varying in heat levels. It doesn't even need sauce if done well.
