Blazur: Typically I'll watch a Rahdo runthrough, then decide if it's worth reading the rules to fully understand the game. I'm almost always the one teaching a game and seldom have one taught to me.

kurthl33t: I prefer to read the rules. The "experts" don't usually know what the hell they're talking about. Although I did have a game explained to me by the game designer, and I though that was legit.

CortexBomb: Both, if given the choice I prefer to read them though, I notice that everyone's mind organises rules differently, so being able to plow through the book and file everything away myself is easier than assimilating it from someone's spiel, mainly because they might not give emphasis to something that would strike me as important or remember all the exceptions
