Woelf: I'd really like to say Firefly because it was pure awesome from start to finish, but honestly I have to give the edge to Star Wars because over the past 30-some years it has become such a significant fixture and has had so much influence on society that anyone who claims otherwise is deluding themselves. For all the whining there is about the Star Wars prequels (which for the record I enjoyed), who's to say that Firefly wouldn't have someday gone a similar route if it had continued? Joss Whedon does some awesome work, but he's no god - consider the last few seasons of Buffy, or the first season and a half of Dollhouse. Star Wars has bridged entire generations, and while there are no new movies on the horizon (as far as I know) the franchise shows no signs of fading away anytime soon. Firefly, by contrast, is a niche within a niche and in the grand scheme of things very few know it even exists.

To rant a little: Star Wars has had it's time and it was good at first, the first Star Wars is still good and fun to watch, the whole first trilogy is, but when you start having effects for the sake of effects and not story you have lost something. Firefly has effects but uses them the same way that the original Star Wars did, as an additional way to tell the story rather than to just have pretty shiny things on the screen.

thoia: FIREFLY!....but that's if you take the new SW into account. The origianl trilogy is some of the best ever..but as I said if you take into account the new crap Lucas is trying to pawn off on us then FireFly all the way. Can't wait for the movie!
