Jedadeana: I have written to the manufacturer and they sent me replacements for free. Also, many users on BGG (especially in my Thrifting Guild) have spares they are happy to share, either for free or just the cost of shipping
ocdspectrum: I bought a $700 lot for one piece and sold off the rest (made a few bucks, but took time)
vandemonium: As far as the eye can see. Of course nowadays the eye can see the computer screen which can send bits and bytes from all over the world right in front of your face. So not really all that far after all.

dgutierrez22: I've written the company and had them send it to me. Once, I used cardstock leftover from punching out pieces for one game and using rubber cement, I made sturdy pieces for my old paper printed Puerto Rico expansion pieces before they were released separately.

_Kael_: I mailed Columbia Games. And in stead of sending me 1 block, they practically sent me a new game. While my e-mail said: "I miss a piece in the 2nd hand game I bought". I was (and still am) impressed by their service.

axarca: I have fashioned playing pieces out of Sculpey and FIMO. I gave enough GeekGold to another BGGer so he could buy an avatar. Wrote e-mail to manufacturer asking for replacement parts. Bought complete and nearly-complete copies at thrift store to replace 1 or 2 parts of original game. Paid more on http://www.missinggameparts.com to replace ONE part than I would have paid on eBay or at the thrift store to replace the whole game. Prostituted my mind to my best friend for some extra parts...
