¿Question #2998?
ThatFalafelGirl: If you were starting a game group, would you interview people to control who could join?

Pongapp: Yes. I wouldn't interrogate them but a few questions would be good. The best way to do it is invite them to play a few games without mentioning the group first. I have a group of friends that games frequently but we've had to lose a few members of our little "group" because they either caused problems between players or in another case one liked to walk away from the game, fiddle with phone, ect. and when his turn rolled around had to spend 15+ minutes thinking of his turn making us wait or would completely forget rules or what stage/round we were in.
Harkonnen13: No I would make sure not to game with them more than once if they were weird.
MisterCranky: You mean like when Derk's group interviewed Aldie, but let him in anyways?
Tushratta: No, that's too anal. Just kick 'em out if they misbehave.
Blott: No, not at first.
gmcash: no, someone please just join
aleo09: nah
bismarck1871: No, a lottery. Then those who drew the black slips would be stoned to death by the others. What a sense of accomplishment that would give.
jredd: My group actually interviews people after they've joined.
okaraburger: Merely interviewing may not be effective to screen out "undesirables".
DHEK: Nah... I'd be very open with who can join - anyone can, and they can stay in the group for so long as they don't ruin things for others.
elirlandes: Certainly not.
vampywife: that's not too bad of an idea ;) i think what i would do, though, is to have it in a more public place until i got to know the folks who wanted to join, so no interview would really be needed.
POvidiusNaso: Nope.
Sire Enaique: Oh yes!!!
_Kael_: No - just kick them out afterwards
jtakagi: I wouldn't want to be such a jerk about it, but it's probably a good idea.
illicit: no
Chris Page: Tempting, but no.
ellephai: Ha! I should live so long, to have people queued up to play games with me, so that I could be selective.
greglios: Not exactly but I would only tell someone about the group if I wanted them to join.
dmomo: No
Sektor: No, I'm having trouble enough finding people
szilaj: Of course. Well, not an interview but a testgame.
SisyphusX: No, as my game group would consist of my friends.
Mike A: No. But if I did, it would be cool to put them on the spot in front of the whole group like one of those irritating group interviews for jobs.
jcarvin: No, all are welcome
kspieler: no.
Tamawi: That ruins the random factor. That deranged person might be your group's missing ingredient.
mrspank: No, I'm not that pretentious.
crimsonking: Yes
lauramath: no
Helenoftroy: no, open to all as long as they are mean or dangerous. I can always kick them out later.
BeeCeeJay: No, although I also wouldn't feel too bad about failing to invite obnoxious gamers in the future.
JasonMatthews: I'd say playing with them would be more telling than any interview.
Peechy: No I would use telepathy
zombiegod: no
ZombyDawg: No need. Just charge exhorbitantly high dues and that should keep the lower classes away.
Unitbuster: For sure. You gots to keep the riffraff out. "Hey guys! I brought Monopoly again!"
rawdawg: no
flyinghogfish: Totally, there'd be a written exam, too
chillrunr: no
erli: Na, the more weirdos the merrier
GI Joe: Of course
javelin98: No.
Dorque: Nope. Cast the net as wide as possible so that you can get people you wouldn't have thought to ever meet. It'll whittle down to the best people soon enough.
Evilnames: no
beakermyers: Kind of creepy sounding
scriptorum: It's a vouch system. If you bring somebody everybody else thinks is a crappy addition to the group, you tell that player don't bring that friend here ever again. And then you shoot them.
obob: anyone in the group can invite someone new, but if afterward others express negative opinions, they probably won't get invited back
notquitekarpov: Yes
yossarians: no
dakarp: that sounds like too much trouble. I'd probably just invite some people, and not invite back the people I didn't want to play with again.
CharlieWonka: Not really
ValJor: I'm not that freakish
TMJJS: no
Lord_Prussian: Um, no. I think I'd go from past experience of playing games with them.
skrutsch: No.
deadkenny: No
leece: Hmmm. There's a toughy.
ssmooth: No, I'd simply invite people I already knew
2amp: yes
djlg: No.
puffinge: I wouldn't interview, but I wouldn't allow just anybody to join either.
hobbes_inc: y
fanaka66: no
skelebone: No, that sounds fascist.
heli: maybe a little, but you can't really tell until you play with them
chaddyboy_2000: No.
snoozefest: y
Spielfreak: No.
CDRodeffer: No.
CortexBomb: Sort of, I wouldn't have it with an open membership, that's for certain
Tim Synge: No.
jttm: Not really, but it'll probably be by invitation...
