heli: What do you think of the following idea? When you've asked a question and received a number of answers, you can respond to the responses in your own answer to that question.

GrimJester: I think it's a fine idea. Some do this, as you well know, and probably knew when you asked the question. For the possible infinitesimal benefit of others: anyone can answer their own question, anyone can edit their own answers later, answers are sorted by date (most recent first). Some folks have even traded multiple comments directed at each other within the answers to certain questions. So, as others have pointed out below, the most appropriate forum for a real dialog is in the, uh, forums. Have a nice day.
