¿Question #3192?
meshuggener: What has been the hardest game for you to master? Why?

arkibet: age of steam
WeckoJ: Cuba, still don't really know how to win it, but that makes it one of the best games!
Spirit of 70: Any 18XX game, because I hate the game play so much that I have no motivation to learn the rules.
Woelf: Sheephead, because I never read the rules myself and the people trying to teach me the game didn't do a very good job of it. Also, the card order is completely non-intuitive.
pwilz: Dunno if I've mastered anything. I'll say that I like Ra, but I never win.
daveroswell: Caylus...(and I haven't) very unforgiving, and relatively long and "meaty" complex for what it is
engdy: Empire of the Sun - just haven't gotten through the rules yet, and don't really know how to start
Embark: Advanced Squad Leader. It's rulebook is over 400 pages.
halobungieman: Colosseum
MamaRat: Ouch, this is embarrassing--euchre, back in highschool. I REALLY didn't get it the first several times I tried to play. Kept trumping my partner's aces, forgetting to short suit myself, it was ugly.
ZeroZilla: Puerto Rico. I've only ever played 10 games, but I've come in dead last (usually out of four) every time. I can't tell if it's my overall strategy that needs help, or if I just haven't gotten the hang of the look-ahead of how the various roles will help each player. I certainly don't think I'm just that dense... but at this point, the possibility is starting to look more and more like a simple fact.
2amp: chess
Jeff Horger: None, they all pretty much do what I say after I use the choker on them.
Diamat: Crusader Rex. Ambiguous rules.
BuddhaPhi: Any game that I'm trying to teach myself and no one else is around to learn with me (or teach me). I don't handle teaching myself games very well.
KrisVerbeeck: the game of life. I suffer from AP
Chris Page: It From the Pit. It keeps fighting back.
aleo09: don't know
consolewa: Go. It boggles my mind.
jcarvin: Paths of Glory because I've never played it and don't own it yet.
DHEK: If I tried to master them, it probably has to be one of those unfun abstracts like DisX or maybe even Modern Art...
marshalljansen: Go. Duh.
MightyMike: chess, don't like the lack of freeform play
ZiggyZambo: don't know yet
greglios: Quack Shot. Those ducks are slippery little buggers.
Intrepid: War of the Ring, still trying to figure it out
Cut & Space: Chess, I'll never master
SisyphusX: Ticket to Ride. I couldn't tell you why.
vampywife: most games are hard for me to master because i don't get to play them that often.
brainrob: Metro - because the lines give me a headache
MisterCranky: I haven't mastered any games, so this question is a toughie.
hellsbishop: One only masters a game when he realizes a game can never be mastered.
ststrat: Go. Not sufficiently assiduous in my practice.
mlanza: Chess. Breadth. It's unforgiving.
jasta6: Life. Cause I'm still trying...............................................
jellospike: I don't think I "master" any game, but I'm a pretty decent Puerto Rico player.
Arcadian Del Sol: Chess. The reasons are self-evident.
Gregol: Chess
Great Dane: Acquire. I still don't know
Loquutus: E & T. Its a hard f***ing game. This answer will soon change to Die Macher.
fFish: War of the Ring. I'm not a grognard.
crimsonlady: Tichu, I always feel I'm letting my partner down
bekudno: I haven't mastered any games. Yet.
shizzane: Take your pick. Speaking, just out of my current playlist, probably Power Grid. I always get screwed in the end (kingmaker anyone?) or make bad decisions or can't count my dang money.
Belash: master? hasn't happened yet.
javelin98: Dominoes. I just don't get it.
gamesbook: Chess. To many openings to memorise.
scriptorum: Chess. It's complex and better studied by other players.
Jim_P: GO
xlorp: Magic Realm; do you even have to ask why?
GilvanBlight: Chess - there is always a better player.
GrandpaDave: My life
BaSL: Revolution
sourwyrm: age of steam looks like it might have a steep learning curve
melissa: St Petersburg - mainly because my husband is better at it than me so I got whipped a lot trying to improve at it!
Flodjo: Chess, it frustrates me.
rdmasters: Go. All the subtleties... And chess. For the same reason.
yoacusna: Chess. It's damn difficult, and some people are willing to put a lot more time into it than I am. Consequently I tend to lose.
ValJor: Taj Mahal. I played it twice, came dead last both times and didn't know what was going on. PoF is a close second for me.
The Unbeliever: 42
puffinge: Right now it seems like it is Ticket to Ride: Europe, but T&E is really the game I never do well at, and it's one of my all-time favorites.
Lord_Prussian: Chess. It involves too much memorization that seems tiresome to me.
familygaming: Go. Have you ever tried to master it? It takes decades to be great.
dakarp: Tic-tac-toe. Maybe some day I'll master a second game.
djlg: Taj Mahal. I don't know why, but I can never win that game.
Favre4MVP: Tigris & Euphrates. Because it's hard to master.
skelebone: I have so many games that have gone unmastered, San Marco comes to mind as one.
CDRodeffer: Dare Base. I really have no tactical idea in that game.
chaddyboy_2000: I usually play a lot of games, not really mastering any of them.
jttm: Anything with a dice is usually hard
Spielfreak: I don't think I've mastered any game. I like variety, and so play many different games on a weekly basis. I don't get the reps in to be considered a master.
snoozefest: any abstract - they just don't work well for me
Dave: Any computer strategy game. Because I get intimidated by not knowing exactly what all the rules/stats are.
sos1: Go. Because it's the hardest game to master.
CortexBomb: I don't believe I've actually mastered any game
heli: there are too many senses to "hardest"
