Randy Cox: Put the compas pointy end on the vertex of the angle and make a semi-circle that touches each line of the angle. Then go to the point where one line intersects the semicircle and draw a circle. Go to the other point where the semi-circle touches the other line. Draw the same diameter circle. Now your two full circles will intersect at two points. The line between those points bisects the angle. Where's my buck (or three, once you tell Bill)?

CDRodeffer: If that angle is 360 / (2^n), it can be accurately trisected. As a simple case, take the 180 degree angle (a straight line). At some point on the line, open up the compass to some workable size, it doesn't really matter. Mark a point on the line with the pencil. Draw a circle about that point. Leaving the compass at the same setting, place the point at the intersection of the line and either side of the circle, then make an arc intersecting the circle. Then make a similar arc intersecting the circle from the point where that arc crossed the circle. Those two arcs trisect the 180 degree angle about the original mark on the line. To trisect a 90 degree, 45 degree, add nauseum, bisect each of those arcs, or whatever.
