puffinge: I'm having this sense of deja vu around my GeekQuestions experience (really, it's very weird). How often do you experience deja vu? Describe the last time it happened.

Vospire: Maybe 10 times in 40+ years. It was very disconcerting because I felt it, but I couldn't remember what the deja vu was about, normally I do.

DHEK: I probably experience deja vu once in a long time. Can't remember when was the last time it happened though, but I know it must have been awhile.

POvidiusNaso: I think I experience it about once every four or five months. It always happens in very nondescript scenes, like when I take out the trash and find a weird styrofoam thing stuck under a branch.

Lord_Prussian: It happens every month or two and I'll just get the feeling that I dreamed what is happening. Often it's a conversation or just what I am looking at and only for 5-6 seconds or so.

Cavedog_pdx: In 1999 I was driving down highway 199 to Crescent City California and from there was going down highway 101 to San Francisco. While driving through Crescent City I had the strangest sense of deja vu - like I had seen the city in a dream even though I had never ever been to Crescent City before that very moment in my life! It was quite creepy.

CDRodeffer: I only experience deja vu when I remember having experienced deja vu.
Randy Cox: Uh oh, people may think Cortex Bomb and I are the same person. I used to experience it all the time, but no more. And my theory had to do with parallel universes (every decision point, however insignificant, splits your universe and all people in contact with you). Ultimately, you die in one universe, and your memories traverse back along the binary tree searching for a nearby living copy of yourself. Voila, you get hit with a memory of something that hasn't quite yet happened in your universe. Scary, huh?

CortexBomb: I used to experience deja vu all the time, it's been ages since it last happened though. A pity, I rather liked it. My theory then was that deja vu was a result of Nietzsche's eternal reoccurence (he thought that we were doomed to relive our lives over and over again) unlike N I thought that we were doomed to relive our lives, but that we could take slightly different paths each time. Deja vu was when a past life's was exactly the same as a present life's event, an overlap. It was more fanciful than serious, but I still enjoy the idea of it.
