¿Question #3485?
BaluMG: Could someone tell me wher is the description fo Bayesian Avarage Rating? (What is it? How is it calculated?)
Thisisnotasmile: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bayesian_average
Woelf: YCLIU
xofour: dija check wikipedia?
Hendal: yes, someone could
Hector Vortac: 1. Randy Cox 2. Aaron Fuegi 3. Fred Google
DHEK: It's in the forums. Just search for the term and you'll find it.
aleo09: cant' tell
WalkerRedEye: nope, no idea, pass
vampywife: if you look into forums and under the How to BGG file, there should be something in there about it.
brainrob: Check the forums
djlg: Any basic statistics book/website will explain it.
Chris Page: Check some basic statistics textbooks from a library for more than you ever wanted to know.
scriptorum: Someone can tell you.
bigbadsteve: I believe that it has something to do with san fransisco bay area asian people and their opinions of games
Loquutus: This should be in a forum.
POvidiusNaso: Go here: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geekforum.php3?action=viewthread&threadid=71129
melissa: I'm sure someone could but not I
dakarp: Take everyone's rating and sum them. Add in the (regular) average rating times 30. Divide by the number of ratings plus 30. Basically, take all of the raters, add in 30 dummy raters who rate everything "average," and take the average of that. It keeps games that are very popular with a very small subset of gamers from jumping straight into the top 100.
2amp: try google
sourwyrm: nope
kennyb: not this someone...
BaluMG: sorry to disturb you with my silly question... i've found the answer of course using google... many thanks
Lord_Prussian: Google it up
jttm: Could someone tell me where the spell check botton (sic) is?
skelebone: Try starting here : http://www.bayesian.org/
heli: google it
davedanger: page 224, paragrapha 5, sentence 3.
chaddyboy_2000: Someone probably answered this for you already.
CDRodeffer: As I understand it, it's just like an arithmetic average, except that there are a bunch of 5.5 ratings tossed into the mix.
CortexBomb: It's basically a system whereby games which don't have x number of ratings are penalized with dummy ratings to drag them down. It essentially makes it so that shilling alone cannot elevate a game's ranking
Spielfreak: Yes, someone can. But not me.
