¿Question #3489?
ssmooth: Do the games you like tend to involve a lot of guesswork?
ocdspectrum: No. It’s just normal analysis paralysis.
willyum: Ummm.... lemme think... hmmmm.... nope. I think.
draight: No, guesswork undermines a games integrity
imyourskribe: I dunno. Maybe?
Hendal: yep, I am guessing weather she will sleep with me or not
javapuzzles: its not guesswork it is educated guesses
Woelf: Some of them do, some of them don't.
DasViktor: No, Mystery Express has so much guesswork, I consider it painful.

tankexmortis: No.
Polgara: no
cturnitsa: Not at all, except for bidding games. I think that guessing what the other players are doing is good, but guessing what is going on in the game is frustrating. I suppose a mystery game (like Baker St. or Ellery Queen) is different, but there the guessing is almost the metagame.

monkeyrobot: Not really. I mean, I play Mystery of the Abbey, Cluedo and block games every now and then, but that´s it. Although I guess in a wide sense, auction games are about guessing to.

tipigi: no
Loquutus: yes
ssmooth: Maybe not a lot, but just about any game involves a bit of guesswork at a key juncture. (Though admittedly, in an open-information game, the main thing you have to guess at is what your opponent is thinking!) For example, in Euphrat & Tigris you have to guess what your opponents' tile holdings might be as you approach a conflict. Or in a game with a lot of dice rolls, you do things based on a guess about what the future dice rolls will be -- knowing probabilities helps here, of course.
